NARITA EXPRESS
The Limited Express NARITA EXPRESS (N’EX) provides a fast and comfortable connection between Narita International Airport and major stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, including Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Yokohama. It is the most convenient rail link for international travelers arriving in or departing from Japan’s main gateway airport.Operated with modern E259 series trains, the NARITA EXPRESS offers reserved seating, spacious interiors, luggage racks, and free Wi-Fi. Large windows allow passengers to enjoy city and suburban views as the train travels smoothly from the airport to central Tokyo in about one hour.
With direct access to many of Tokyo’s major districts and connections to the Shinkansen network, the NARITA EXPRESS is ideal for tourists seeking a reliable and relaxing start or end to their journey in Japan.

Seat types
- All seats are reserved.
- Narita Express trains operate with 12 cars, with the front 6 cars bound for Ofuna and the rear 6 cars bound for Shinjuku.
- You can walk between Car No.6 and Car No.7.
1st class
Cars 6 and 12 is 1st class, called “Green Cars.” All seats are reserved. They feature a 2+2 seating layout, offering comfort even on long journeys. The seat pitch and seat width are larger than those in 2nd class.
2nd class
All cars (excluding Car 6 and 12) are 2nd class, with a 2+2 seating layout.
Stops
- The stops of the trains vary depending on the train.
- ▲ indicates stations where only some trains stop.
- Narita Express trains to and from Shinjuku Station operate every 30 minutes, while services to and from Ōfuna Station run every 60 minutes.
- Skyliner also operates, connecting Narita Airport and Nippori in 36 minutes.
- At Tokyo Station, passengers can transfer to the Tokaido Shinkansen, Tohoku Shinkansen, Hokuriku Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, and to the Limited Express Hitachi, Tokiwa, Odoriko, and Saphir Odoriko services.
- At Shinagawa Station, transfers are available to the Tokaido Shinkansen and the Limited Express Odoriko.
- At Shinjuku Station, passengers can transfer to the Limited Express Azusa, Kaiji, Fuji Excursion, Nikko, and Kinugawa services.

- Children aged 6 to under 12 pay half of the adult fare for 2nd class seats. Children under 6 travel free, but a child fare is required if a seat is reserved.
- The following fares are standard fares. During busy seasons, an additional ¥400 applies. During off-peak seasons, ¥200 is discounted.
- Although 2nd class also offers unreserved seat tickets, the fare is the same as for reserved seats. With a unreserved seat ticket, you may use any vacant seat, but you must give it up if the passenger who reserved that seat arrives. Since trains are crowded throughout the day, it is recommended to purchase a reserved seat ticket.
